I've had this idea since the seeing the latest snapshot in Minecraft that I would like to re-create the Stepping Discs in Ringworld. Ringworld is an excellent book about the discovery of a newly discovered planet shape that was created by some intelligent species and was later abandoned. Prior to the trip to this world there is an entry in the book that discusses the teleportation power of an extraterrestrial species. The stepping discs consist of four circles that surround a blue rectangle. Each circle will teleport you to a different rectangle in the direction you stepped on the disc. You will be able to see it better in my recreations.

If I were any good with mcedit I would write a script that would automate the placement of these and put them in all my worlds. It is on my to-do list of things that may never happen. At the very least if I ever work on a server or a map you can look forward to this design in the future.
